Abacus International appoints John Lau as Chief Financial Officer

Abacus International, Asia-Pacific’s largest Global Distribution System (GDS) today announced the appointment of Mr. John Lau as Chief Financial Officer.

Based in Abacus’ Singapore headquarters, Mr. Lau will have overall responsibility for Abacus’ financial and operational management.

In his capacity as Chief Financial Officer, Mr Lau will spearhead strategic and financial planning, management and statutory reporting, controllership, tax planning, treasury and risk management, legal, administration, mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments and strategic operations of Abacus and its subsidiaries.

Don Birch, CEO & President of Abacus International said, “John brings with him business and financial expertise honed from more than 21 years in industries ranging from information technology to oil and gas to  engineering-diversified conglomerates. He has helped a number of companies in their expansion plans and has much experience working both within Singapore and in the Asia Pacific region.”

He added, “Abacus is very pleased to welcome a person of John’s calibre to the team. Financial management is an intrinsic part of any business and with a company that is as large and as widely spread such as Abacus, it is important that we have a reliable and experienced person to helm this most important of posts.”

John holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, USA.
