Before the Tsunami Khao Lak was a very new destination, yet being only one hour from Phuket International Airport it offered an ideal escape for those looking for somewhere not as commercial as Phuket and who still wanted to be able to enjoy some of the finest beaches in Thailand. Sofitel Magic Lagoon and Spa, Khao Lak - was very badly hit and is still closed.

La Flora - has now reopened, and offers guests a resort with a very 'boutique' feel about it. The resort does have a few Jacuzzi villas, but only a few face directly onto the sea so do check with the hotel if that is important to you.
