Below we are pleased to announce the winners of the 2002 Premier Travel Awards for Excellence. The 2002 awards received a record number of votes, with a total of 6,081 votes made throughout the year - our sincere thanks to all those that shared their time, and travel wisdom by voting in the awards. The results are once again amazing and we received votes for every type of hotel, bar and restaurant imaginable. From the top 5 star hotels to properties most would never have heard of, from regular bars and disco's across Asia, to some a lot more 'unusual'. The results below reflect the most number of votes received in each individual category. Of the 6,081 votes received 68% of the people that voted travel to or within Asia on average 7- 15 times a year, 52% were from within the Asia Pacific region (including Australia) and 29% from Europe and the remainder from elsewhere. Interestingly many hotels have managed to retain their position as the best in that city, despite newer properties opening, although some did drop from the winning three as well others rose. The one hotel that does stand out the most must be the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, which for the fourth year in a row, has won the title of Best Hotel in the World. The new category we added in 2002 also has created an interesting result as the winning property did not win the most votes in its respective city category but did in the category of Best Hotel in Asia Pacific, and that is The Oriental Bangkok. Congratulations to all.
