Specially created for travellers with a passion for art, Mandarin Oriental, Munich is offering a new service to its guests; bespoke personal art tours with Munich’s very own art expert Dr Eva Karcher. Appealing both to serious collectors and to those with a brewing interest in art; Dr Karcher will take guests on insider tours of Munich’s most famous galleries and museums as well as artists’ studios and exquisite private collections, enabling guests to get a closer look into the city’s rich art scene. During a preliminary discussion, the renowned art historian will identify guest’s preferences in order to create a bespoke art tour. Whether guests prefer a general tour of Munich’s renowned art scene or desire specialised recommendations towards the purchase of a piece for their home or private collection, Dr Karcher will tailor-make each tour according to individual needs. The art tours range from two hours to a full day and are priced from Euro 400, depending on requirements. The Director of Munich’s renowned ManGallery, Mrs Sybille Mang said, “Dr Eva Karcher is an institution in the German art world. Her expert advice gives corporate magnates, private collectors and gallery owners an exclusive insight, particularly into the contemporary art scene. Also, she is behind the discovery of many students of great teachers such as Immendorff or A.R. Penck who are now important contributors to contemporary art.” This service is especially helpful for guests staying in Munich only for a short time and who wish to visit as many of the city’s fine museums and galleries as possible. And along with the keen insights provided by Dr Eva Karcher, private meetings with individual artists and private collectors can also be arranged. Dr Eva Karcher was born in Heidelberg, Germany and studied art history, philosophy and history in Munich and Berlin. She received a doctorate for her work “Eros und Tod im Werk von Otto Dix” (Eros and death in the work of Otto Dix). After completing extensive studies in Florence, Rome, Paris and London, Dr Karcher moved to Munich where she spent two years assisting two of the city’s most renowned gallerists; Michael Hasenclever and Bernd Klüser. Since 1997 she has been working as an independent journalist and art expert, focusing on crossover tendencies between art and fashion, art and science, art and philosophy and art and design. Aside from publishing books and creating magazines such as “Artinvestor” and Sleek, her main vocation is curating exhibitions and advising private as well as corporate art collectors.
