Korean Air is sponsoring the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia to include Korean language in the Museum’s audio tour guide services.

Through the sponsorship, Korean language will be added to the Museum’s audio guide program. The current audio guide provides information about some 300 display pieces in six languages – Russian, English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Korean becomes the first Asian language to be included in the guide.

This sponsorship was announced through a sponsorship signing at 11 a.m., Friday, November 28, at the Museum’s Conference Room among Mr. Yong Soon Park, Managing Vice President of Korean Air, Dr. Vladimir Matveyev, Deputy Director at the Hermitage Museum, and Mr. Alexander Gringolts, Director at Delia, the audio guide provider. Korean Consul General Suk-bae Lee was also present to congratulate this meaningful sponsorship.

“The Korean language is a proud legacy of our culture, and Korean Air is excited to introduce Korean language guide services in the museum at this time. We will also look for other long-term means to contribute to the Hermitage Museum,” said Mr. Yong Soon Park, Managing Vice President of Korean Air. “This is the third time Korean Air is working with a museum, following sponsorship of the Louvre’s multimedia guide launch this past February and signing with The British Museum several days ago. As a ‘corporate cultural ambassador,’ we will continue to look for ways to connect communities and cultures around the world.”

The Hermitage Museum is one of the largest museums in the world, with 3 million works of art and one of the oldest art galleries and museums of human history and culture in the world. More than 2.6 million visitors tour the 353 display rooms spanning six buildings to view the vast collection.

In addition to the museum sponsorships, Korean Air has introduced a new ‘Flying Art Ambassadors’ service. Cabin attendants provide information about museums, tour programs and other cultural knowledge on select flights serving Europe destinations. On Korea bound flights, Ambassadors introduce museums, cultural and tourist sites using Korean Air’s City Guidebook.
