Singapore Airlines ready to Fly Airbus A380 to London

Search ASIA Travel Tips .com Latest Travel News Wednesday, 12 March 2008

Singapore Airlines has taken delivery of its third Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger plane. After a delivery flight from Toulouse in France, the aircraft landed in Singapore earlier today, 12 March 2008.

With the addition of this third aircraft into its fleet, Singapore Airlines will commence A380 flights to London Heathrow airport on Tuesday 18 March 2008. This will be the first-ever A380 commercial service to Europe.

Fitted with the luxurious Singapore Airlines Suites, the award-winning 4-abreast Business Class and a new, more comfortable Economy cabin, the A380 allows Singapore Airlines customers to travel to London in true comfort, space and luxury.

Scheduled daily services to London (SQ322) will commence from the evening of Tuesday 18 March, and on SQ 317 for the return leg from 19 March. Singapore Airlines currently operates daily A380 scheduled flights between Singapore and Sydney.

The quietest large passenger aircraft ever built, the A380 delivers substantial fuel burn reductions per seat mile over the next largest aircraft. This means it is a cleaner, greener alternative for long-haul travel, while allowing for the addition of extra capacity to congested airports, like London.

Singapore Airlines is the first to fly the A380, and currently the only airline in the world operating the aircraft. The airline has firm orders for a further 16 A380s and options on six more.
