Terminal 4 at Melbourne Airport, the home of Tiger Airways' Australian operations, was opened by Minister Theophanous today with Tony Davis, CEO of the Tiger Airways Group and Chris Woodruff, CEO of Melbourne Airport. 

Passengers will benefit from the straightforward check-in and boarding process with Tiger Airways’ aircraft parked right up front of the terminal. Terminal Four is conveniently located immediately adjacent to the other terminals so passengers can be off the plane and into their cars in minutes.

Although more basic than Melbourne Airport’s existing terminals, Terminal Four will be equipped with retail and convenience facilities to cater to passengers’ requirements. The uncluttered structure will bring travel back to the basics by paring down unnecessary frills such as business lounges and aerobridges to keep costs low, but provide a safe and completely efficient service with consistently low fares.

“I would like to commend Melbourne Airport in the way in which they have ensured that T4 was finished on time, on budget and on specification. It definitely shows that Tiger Airways made the right choice in selecting Melbourne to be its home base” Tony Davis said.

Tiger Airways marked the opening of T4 with special fares. On sale today and tomorrow are flights for travel from 23 November 2007 to 31 January 2008 between Melbourne and:

• Launceston from A$9.95 one way
• Gold Coast from A$19.95 one way
• Alice Springs from A$29.95 one way
• Mackay from A$29.95 one way
• Sunshine Coast from A$29.95 one way
• Darwin from A$39.95 one way; and
• Perth from A$39.95 one way

These fares include taxes and charges and are subject to regulatory approval. 15,000 seats are available for sale in total. Sale fares are not available between 15 December 2007 and 10 January 2008.
