Island Holidays, the leisure brand of Air Philippines, has launched a regular commuter service between Manila and Caticlan. The new service injects much-needed capacity on the popular route to Boracay just as the Christmas peak period gets underway.

Island Holidays initially operates five round-trips daily on the Manila-Caticlan route, with the first flight departing Manila at 5:50 a.m. and the last taking off from Caticlan at 5:25 p.m. Each flight takes only 45 minutes to complete.

Its schedules are synchronized with those of partner carrier Philippine Airlines' international flights, for convenient passenger transfers to Caticlan and vice-versa.

The airline has also opened a new ticket office and an eye-catching waiting lounge at Caticlan air terminal the first of its kind in the local airport.

The capacious, 50-square-meter lounge allows Island Holidays passengers to wait for their flights in air-conditioned comfort, while enjoying snacks and watching programs or movies on a 21-inch, flat-screen television set with DVD player. No other airline offers such amenities at Caticlan airport.

By May 2008, when the last of Island Holidays' three firm-order Bombardier Q300s arrives, the airline will operate as many as 11 round-trips daily from Manila and twice daily from Cebu.

Air Philippines has options for three more Q300s, for delivery after 2008, and is looking to start service to several island destinations in the near term.

To mark the launch of service to Caticlan, Island Holidays is offering a seat sale of as low as P888 one-way, exclusive of taxes surcharges, on selected flights. The promotion runs until December 20, for travel before January 31, 2008.
