The Conrad Hotel, Bangkok, is hosting a Gypsy Concert for Charity featuring two of the world’s great composers, Jonathon Glonek, Hungarian violin player and Mikhail Solovei, Ukrainian pianist. The duo will perform a first rate virtuoso program featuring Gypsy melodies over 100 yrs old composed by Bedrich Smetana , Jeno Hubay, Josef Aachron, Pablo De Sarasate, Bela Bartok, Johannes Brahms and Maurice Ravel, many of which have never been played in Thailand before. The real name of Gypsies is Romani, and their music is well known as it is very natural, passionate, and stirs the soul in people. Gypsy music blends with the local influence of music from each European country which gives it a distinct and ethnic sound.
Part of the proceeds will support the Royal Project “In need of (PAR) Foundation” under the Royal Patronage of HRH Princess Soamsawali for the ongoing efforts to relieve suffering and aide the victims from the Asian Tsunami in Southern Thailand. The concert is one night only on 24 February 2005 at the Ballroom of the Conrad Hotel, Bangkok.
