Thai Airways International Cuts Ground Handling Charges by Half

Search ASIA Travel Tips .com 10 July 2003

Thai Airways International is reducing its ground handling, passenger and cargo handling charges by 50 percent at regional airports for a period of one year in order to make the country more attractive to other airlines in an effort to become an aviation centre for the region.

THAI's President, Mr Kanok Abhiradee, disclosed that the Civil Aviation Board has agreed to promote Thailand's regional airports as an aviation hub to support the government's policy. The national airline will therefore offer its full cooperation by reducing handling fees for ground, passenger and cargo by 50 percent at airports in Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Phuket and Hat Yai. This discount only applies to new airlines, additional scheduled flights, and charter flights for a period of one year as of now until 30 April 2004. This is expected to be well received by THAI's airline customers and other international airlines planning to fly to any of Thailand's regional airports in the future.
