Mandarin Oriental’s US$ multi-million global print advertising campaign “He’s a Fan/She’s a Fan”, continues to gather ‘fans’ from around the world with the following celebrities taking part.

Kevin Spacey: The award-winning American actor, director, screenwriter and producer, Kevin Spacey will make his Hong Kong acting debut in the title role of the highly acclaimed Sam Mendes’ production of Richard III from 16-18 September.

Spacey first gained critical acclaim in the early 1980s, winning his first Academy Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in The Usual Suspects. This was followed by a ‘Best Actor’ Academy Award win for American Beauty.

As well as being a true Hollywood star, he has been the Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theatre in London since 2003, and has performed in several productions including The Philadelphia Story, A Moon for the Misbegotten and of course, the aforementioned Richard III. He has also directed a number of plays, including Cloaca and Complicit.

Christian Louboutin: In their twenty years of existence, French footwear designer Christian Louboutin’s shoes have firmly stamped their signature on an era, circulating across the world from one famous pair of legs to another. Instantly recognisable by the trademark red soles, his creations combine visions of French glamour with imaginative craftsmanship.

A short video of Louboutin will feature in Mandarin Oriental’s new I-Pad advertising campaign which will launch this September in the Asian editions of the Financial Times, The Economist and The Wall Street Journal.

Sophie Marceau: Talented French actress Sophie Marceau has appeared in 38 films. During her teens, Marceau achieved popularity with her debut films La Boum and La Boum 2, for which she received a César Award for ‘Most Promising Actress’. In addition to her French-language films, she has worked in international films such as Braveheart, and played villain and femme fatale, Elektra Kin, in the Bond movie, The World is Not Enough.

In appreciation of its support, the group makes a donation to each celebrity’s individual choice of charity.

“We continue to be delighted with the campaign, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2010, and believe it makes a strong statement about our group in a simple and luxurious manner. By focusing on celebrities who clearly appreciate the finer things in life, we have been able to show the quality of our hotels in a far more interesting way than traditional hotel advertising,” said Jill Kluge, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s Director of Brand Communications.

Kevin Spacey, Christian Louboutin and Sophie Marceau join Mandarin Oriental's 20 existing celebrity fans: IM Pei, Lance Armstrong, Michelle Yeoh, Jane Seymour, Kenzo Takada, Jerry Hall, Vanessa Mae, Vivienne Tam, Barry Humphries, Frederick Forsyth, Darcey Bussell, Bryan Ferry, Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Maggie Cheung, Sigourney Weaver, Sir David Tang, Harry Connick Jr., Hélène Grimaud and Sa Ding Ding.
