Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Friday, 13 May 2011

Six Senses has opened a spa at the Hotel Missoni in Kuwait.

The Six Senses Spa, on the second floor of the new five-star designer hotel, features 13 treatment rooms including two Hammams, separate areas for men and ladies, and a bridal room including salon, pedicure and manicure areas.

The 1,500-square metre spa also houses a fitness centre with a mixed and ladies-only gym, yoga studio, experience shower, sauna, steam rooms and luxurious relaxation areas.

Treatments are inspired by Arabic traditions as well as Six Senses signature treatments and traditional Asian therapies. The spa menu will offer locally inspired treatments using organic ingredients such as dates, olives and Arabic spices. There will also be detox and weight loss programmes for guests wishing to achieve specific wellness goals. Activities such as yoga, Pilates and meditation will be available privately, as well as in group sessions, and health retreats may be booked, combining spa treatments with personal training, spa cuisine and wellness activities.

A wide range of spa journeys is available at the spa including Sweetness Dates, a spa journey using a body polish with rice and Arabic herbs followed by a warm honey and date wrap, and the Gulf Spices Ritual which begins with a detoxifying bath with ginger and sea salt and ends with a massage using frankincense essential oil. Specific bridal packages will be tailored to guests' wishes.

The design of the spa is true to Six Senses' signature style of natural fabrics and materials. Contemporary to the core but with a nod to Arabic art it provides a luxurious, relaxing environment for guests and blends seamlessly with the hotel's public spaces where rich golds, mosaics and subtle textures are punctuated with unmistakable Missoni stripes, zig-zags and bold colours. The hotel's interior design was personally overseen by Rosita Missoni with the aim of creating an exhilarating sensory experience.

The Six Senses Spa will be available to hotel guests and there will also be a membership scheme with benefits such as free fitness assessments, complimentary personal training sessions and treatments, additional discounts on spa treatments, products, food and drink, plus access to the hotel pool.

Members of Six Senses Spa Worldwide are entitled to exclusive privileges in all Six Senses membership spas including discounts to all Six Senses Resorts & Spas.

Hotel Missoni Kuwait is located in Salmiya close to the main shopping district of Kuwait City within the fashionable Symphony Centre that includes offices and exclusive designer boutiques.
