Mr. Paul M Cunningham has been appointed as
General Manager of the soon to open Westin Hefei Baohe.
A UK
citizen, Paul started his hotel career at Claridges Hotel in
London, and gained rich experience through a variety of senior management positions with several leading hotel chains in the UK
and Asia. His ten-year tenure in Starwood includes
postings at The St. Regis Beijing and W Seoul Walkerhill.
Paul joins the Westin Hefei from the Westin Beijing
Financial Street where he held the position of Hotel Manager. With
a wealth of Westin brand experience, Paul will lead the pre-opening team to debut the first Starwood hotel and first
Westin in Anhui province on the 23 December 2010.
As the hotel prepares to open, other
appointments include Mr. Gabriel Lo who has been appointed as the
Executive Assistant Manager.
Originating from Malaysia, with over 15
years experience in the hospitality industry, Gabriel is a
seasoned Sales and Marketing Executive. He came to China and
joined the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Group at the end of 2005
as the Director of Sales and Marketing of Sheraton Guilin, and
was promoted to Executive Assistant Manager – Sales and Marketing.
Mr. Simon Wu has been
appointed Director of Food & Beverage of the Westin Hefei Baohe.
He will be responsible for all the Food and Beverage operations
and report directly to the General Manager. With more than 20
years hotel experience, Simon hails from Xian and has gained
invaluable experience in several famous international hotel chains
including Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and InterContinental
Hotels Group. He joins the Westin from Crowne Plaza Suzhou where he
held the position of Director of Food and Beverage.
Mr. Peter Soo has been appointed as the Executive
Chef of the Westin Hefei Baohe. He started his career working
in famous Michelin Star restaurants in New York City including
the prestigious kitchens of Daniel Boulud and Le Cirque and has
worked as part of the pre- opening teams for the Regent Beijing,
the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Sanya and the Fairmont Hotel,
Yangcheng Lake. Peter will be the
culinary driving force behind Westin Hefei’s signature Food and
Beverage venues including Zen5es Chinese restaurant, Seasonal
Tastes and Grange Gill.
Located at the corner of Ma’anshan road
and Wuhu road, the hotel is a part of Hefei Wanda Plaza, which
consists of a large department store, outdoor walking street,
bar street, open view luxury apartment and twin office buildings.
