Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Thursday, 26 August 2010

Airbus has opened a corporate jet office in Hong Kong to facilitate contact with customers in the increasingly important and growing Chinese market, building on the strong presence that it already has in the region.

Airbus has sold around 20 corporate jets in Asia Pacific, most of them in China, Hong Kong and Macau.

The office is headed by Airbus Sales Director Jean-Noel Robert, who is responsible for corporate jet sales in northeast Asia, including China and Korea, and is co-located with Airbus’s existing office for airliner activity, near to Hong Kong’s airport.

“China’s strong economic growth and industrial expansion mean that large companies in the region are well placed to benefit from the greater productivity that Airbus corporate jets can help them to achieve,” said Airbus Chief Operating Officer Commercial, John Leahy. “Asia has always been an important market for Airbus – our first airliner sale outside Europe was to the region – and our latest initiative recognizes the importance of China to our corporate jet activity.”

Airbus’ business jet offering comprises the A318 Elite, Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), A320 Prestige and, on the widebody side, the A330 Prestige, A340 Prestige, A350 Prestige and A380 Prestige.

More than 160 Airbus corporate jets have been sold worldwide, comprising over 100 A318 Elites, Airbus ACJs and A320 prestiges, and some 50 VIP and government widebodies.
