LAN Airlines has appointed Andres Fernandez to the new role of Market Manager Asia. Andres will be based in the airline’s Asia Pacific Region office in Sydney.

Andres previously has held key roles in team management, customer service and relationship management in Australia and South America, most recently with HSBC Bank Australia and the national retailer Coles Group Ltd.

In his new role, Andres will be responsible for implementing LAN’s passenger business development strategies and achieving revenue goals in Asian markets.

He will also coordinate and execute sales and marketing strategies throughout the region, guide the activities of General Sales Agents and work closely with partner airlines in Asia.

LAN’s General Manager Asia Pacific, Rodrigo Contreras, said Asia was one of the most important future regions for LAN. “Asia is the world’s fastest growing region for air transport, and a market in which we see considerable potential,” said Mr Contreras. “We are currently building our offline sales presence and activities in key Asian markets, and the creation of the new role of Market Manager Asia is central to our growth plans.”

LAN, a member of the oneworld global airline alliance, is one of the largest and most successful airline groups in South America. From Asia, LAN offers connections from Australia, New Zealand and the USA to and within South America.
