Tickets for Disney’s The Lion King in Singapore are now on sale to the public. Seen by over 50 million people worldwide and sponsored by OCBC Cards, the internationally acclaimed performance will set the Marina Bay Sands stage ablaze on 3 March 2011.

Now in its 13th year, The Lion King has wowed audiences around the world including New York, London, Hamburg, a North American tour, Tokyo and Las Vegas. Singapore will join these leading cities when the show premieres at The Sands Theater in March next year.

The cast for the Singapore production will be comprised of the cream of Lion King performers from around the world, including veterans of the acclaimed London and Paris productions. The cast of 51 hails from 8 countries and 5 continents and, as in virtually every company of The Lion King, this cast includes South African members, in keeping with the show’s spirit of authenticity. Rehearsals for full cast and crew are scheduled for January 2011.

Marina Bay Sands President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Thomas Arasi said, “We are thrilled that one of the most exciting performances of all times will make its Southeast Asian debut at Marina Bay Sands. The Lion King is the recipient of a multitude of international awards and we are proud that our very own Sands Theater will host the first production ever in this part of the world. Marina Bay Sands has already transformed the city’s skyline and the addition of The Lion King will elevate Singapore’s status as a world-class entertainment destination.”

The Lion King ticket prices range from Sin$65 to Sin$240. Packages for hotel stays, restaurants and show tickets are also available and group rates start from 8% discount for 20 people or more. Performance schedules are Tuesday to Friday 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 2pm and 8pm.
