Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Videos Friday, 14 May 2010

Jet Airways’ domestic passenger traffic grew by 39% in April 2010 when compared to the same period last year, with international passenger traffic rising 29%.

JetLite, Jet Airways' wholly owned subsidiary has also done well and posted a 28% increase on a seat factor of 12.8% in the month of April 2010.

Mr. Nikos Kardassis, CEO, Jet Airways, said, “Our airline has continued to build on its leadership position within the Indian aviation industry, with seven consecutive months of stellar growth. A buoyant global economic environment, coupled with the relaxation of governmental and corporate travel restrictions, have resulted in an upswing in air travel demand. Importantly, Jet Airways has also been proactive in responding to market demand, testimony to which was the successful launch of the Konnect Select our new premium cabin offering on Jet Konnect flights during the summer peak season. Disruptions due to the Icelandic volcanic eruptions on the transatlantic route were also minimized due to the proactive measures put in place with the temporary shift of the European transit hub from Brussels to Athens.”
