Visitors to Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong can now see one of India’s most prominent film stars - Amitabh Bachchan.

On loan for the next four months from Madame Tussauds London, Amitabh Bachchan will take his place at the “World Famous Home of the Famous” at The Peak alongside other movie stars such as Jackie Chan, Johnny Depp, and Angelina Jolie.

Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Shanghai said, “Hong Kong is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Indian tourists and we have been fortunate to welcome many tour groups and individual travelers to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. While these guests enjoy meeting our unique collection of over 100 international celebrities and world leaders, there is a growing demand for us to feature Indian film stars.”

With more awards than any other Indian actor, a career spanning almost 40 years and over 100 film credits to his name, Bachchan is one of the most legendary figures in the history of Indian cinema. After taking time out to be a Member of Parliament in the 80s, Bachchan returned to Bollywood with a vengeance, bringing his total Filmfare Best Actor awards to 12 and the coveted National Film Awards to three.

Amitabh Bachchan’s wax figure will be on display at World Premiere section at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong until August 9, 2009.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is open to guests from 10am to 10pm daily.
