Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Wednesday, 4 March 2009

With the first ibis hotel in Singapore - ibis Singapore on Bencoolen - just one week old, Accor has confirmed the development of a second ibis for the city state - ibis Singapore Novena.

Located on Balestier Road, the hotel is located a few minutes walk to Novena MRT (subway) which is two stops from the city centre shopping of Orchard road, surrounded by some of Singapore’s major medical facilities and well known eateries – in a city famous for its multi cultural and outdoor dining.

The hotel owned by Cockpit International will consist of 241 guest rooms and “its all about TASTE” Restaurant – a signature dining concept of ibis hotels. Cockpit International have had an association with the ibis hotel brand since 1997 when they acquired ibis London Earls Court.

The ibis Singapore Novena will offer the hallmarks of the brand including LCD flat screen televisions, ergonomic bathroom, high speed internet connectivity, sound insulation, transparent pricing, quality food 24 hours per day, 8 hour breakfast with all services backed by ibis’s 15 minute satisfaction contract.

Michael Issenberg – Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, Accor Asia Pacific said, "As one of the worlds largest economy hotel brands, this new ibis hotel in Singapore will benefit from strong international brand recognition and fills a void of quality, affordable accommodation in the economy market segment."

Work has already commenced on the project which is due for completion in 2011.

The ibis network has over 800 hotels in 40 countries globally. In the Asia Pacific region, Accor has currently 61 ibis hotels in operation with approximately 100 hotels under development.
