Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 3 August 2009

China Southern Airlines is now offering mobile phone check-in service for all its domestic, nonstop flights originated from Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou.

Customers can log onto China Southern Airline’s Chinese website after 2:00 p.m. the day before their departure and 50 minutes before departure. They then find the ‘online check-in procedure’, enter the required information, select a seat or allow the computer to select the seat, then click ‘print the electronic boarding pass’ and input the mobile phone number.

Electronic documents are then instantly transmitted to the passenger’s mobile phone.

Passengers without baggage to check in can proceed directly to the airport security screening area. Passengers with baggage to check should proceed as usual to baggage drop off points prior to security screening.

From 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, China Southern ground service staff will be offering assistance to passengers using the new mobile phone check-in system at the security screening area.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has mandated a move to 100% bar coded boarding passes by the end of 2010.
