S7, Russia’s largest domestic airline, has become the first to implement SITA Marketplace-Air, enabling its sales agents, partner travel agents and customers booking on their website, to access and book last seat availability on 530 airlines through SITA Reservations.

SITA partnered with Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading GDS providers operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, to provide S7 with extensive access to the content from over 400 additional airlines. The solution is now being made available to other carriers hosted on SITA Reservations.

SITA Marketplace-Air is a new service within SITA Reservations that provides real-time access to the inventory of an additional 400 airlines through a single booking solution. Previously, with SITA Reservations, S7 enabled its 3,000 sales agents and to view and sell its own available seats, and to provide access to the inventories of the 130 SITA Reservations-hosted airlines to support its customers’ onward air travel arrangements. SITA Marketplace-Air now enables access to the inventory of a total of 530 airlines.

Anton Eremin, Senior Vice-President, S7 Group said, “SITA is supporting a key objective of S7 to save costs by extending our direct distribution with travel agencies and other distribution channels. SITA Marketplace-Air strengthens the ability to book extended travel through a single application - SITA Reservations. By doing this, we are able to manage our overall distribution costs as well as enable agents and customers on our website to book complete itineraries.”

The technology ensures agents can service a passenger’s itinerary end-to-end and it also provides the agents and customers using the S7 website with extended real-time access to other airlines’ seat maps, inventory availability and seat reservation capabilities.

S7 is Russia’s leading domestic carrier and number three internationally. In 2008, the airline carried 5.9 million passengers, a 3.4% increase over the previous year. S7 flies to 100 destinations.
