Ronald Nilsson appointed General Manager of Swisstel Kolkata

Mr. Ronald Nilsson has been appointed as General Manager of the Swisstel Kolkata. Ronald will lead the pre-opening and opening team of the 147-room deluxe development located in the city district of Rajarhat (New Town). The hotel is scheduled to open in spring 2010.

Ronald moves to India from his hometown of Dsseldorf, Germany where he has developed a career in hospitality for the past 15 years. Since 2007, he has been General Manager of the Swisstel Dsseldorf/Neuss, Germany. During this tenure, he directed a major 14-month renovation programme involving the entire property to successfully reposition Swisstel Dsseldorf in Germany and Europe by introducing things including new food and beverage concepts.

Earlier in his career, Ronald assumed several senior sales and marketing appointments at various hotels in Germany including SORAT Hotels, Dsseldorf, Radisson SAS Hotel Dsseldorf and Hotel Nikko, Dsseldorf, Germany.

A native German, Ronald is fluent in German, English and Swedish.

Swisstel Kolkata, the newest member of the Swisstel family and the groups first hotel in India, adjoins the newly-opened second City Centre shopping mall and will house 147 rooms and suites. Culinary temptations include an all-day casual dining restaurant serving local and international fare, a specialty fine-dining Indian restaurant and a rooftop lounge and bar on the eighth floor that will offer unobstructed views of Kolkata served with a heady mix of cocktails and canaps. Other facilities include conference rooms with 1,261 square metres of meeting and banquet space, a fitness centre and a rooftop swimming pool.
