Lufthansa to Boost Services from Milan

Search ASIA Travel Tips .com Latest Travel News Send to Friend Monday, 9 June 2008

Lufthansa is expanding its route network from Milan. From the beginning of 2009, six new Embraer 195 jets will be stationed at Milan Malpensa Airport. The aircraft will be operated by the Italian Lufthansa subsidiary Air Dolomiti and will be deployed on intra-European routes.

“Milan and the Lombardy region are among the strongest and most important regions in Europe and have a high passenger volume. By expanding our flight offering, we will be able to provide an even denser network of routes to attractive destinations in Europe for our Italian customers in future,” said Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Executive Vice President Services and Human Resources, Lufthansa Passenger Airlines.

In order to provide the infrastructure and ensure that the necessary conditions are in place for future operations at Milan Malpensa, Lufthansa has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SEA, the operator of Milan Airports.

Lufthansa customers already have a wide choice of flights to and from Milan. Along with its partners, Lufthansa offers 372 weekly flights with a Lufthansa flight number to Milan. Up to now, 158 of these flights have gone to Malpensa, 28 flights to Linate. Through a codesharing agreement with Air One, a further 186 intra-European flights are offered via Milan.
