Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 7 February 2008

The Oriental, Bangkok has become one of the first hotels in the world to implement next-generation 802.11n wireless technology throughout its premises.

This new high-speed wireless network, introduced by Cisco Systems (Thailand), is a part of The Oriental, Bangkok’s commitment to providing the best in service and technology for both leisure and business travellers alike who require internet service during their visit. To ensure fast and effortless internet connection for guests anywhere on the premises, access points (Cisco Aironet 1250 Series points) have been installed throughout the hotel, allowing guests to stay connected as they move about the hotel and grounds.

“The Oriental, Bangkok is recognised as one of the world’s foremost and legendary luxury hotels,” said Mr Kurt Wachtveitl, who recently celebrated 40 years as General Manager of the hotel. “With over 130 years of history, The Oriental has always been at the forefront of pioneering initiatives, which are appreciated by and benefit our guests. The hotel constantly evolves with the times and technology, and we are delighted to introduce the world’s latest Wi-Fi advancements to ensure that our guests enjoy comfort, convenience and reliability. Today’s business travellers demand more than simple connectivity - they value voice, video and data options which are efficient, convenient, highly secure and more importantly can be accessed anytime, anywhere in the hotel. We are delighted to be the first hotel in the world to offer the latest Cisco wireless 802.11n technology in our rooms and in the hotel. This reinforces our tradition of providing exceptional services for our guests.”

The hotel’s new next-generation wireless technology will provide the fastest and most secure internet connection to date, and The Oriental, Bangkok has invested more than THB20,000,000 over the last year in developing the hotel’s internet technology system.
