The Langham Auckland is enhancing its facilities available to guests, with the addition of what will be the world’s newest Chuan Spa in October 2008. The Chuan Spa is an internationally-acclaimed world-leading spa brand founded on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

The Auckland Chuan Spa will occupy a spacious 1265 square metres at the five-star hotel and will feature six lavish treatment rooms including two VIP dual suites with private spas, ice caves (a cave made of ice designed to invigorate and refresh while allowing skin to cool), snail showers (a shower shaped like the shell of a snail with multiple rose-heads to allow water to massage the skin from every direction), relaxation lounges, his and hers herbal steam rooms and saunas, complete with a unisex Jacuzzi, and heated indoor and outdoor pools. The spa will also feature a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

Chuan Spas are also located in fellow Langham properties in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Thailand and the USA. As with other Chuan Spas, the Auckland spa will welcome both hotel guests and non-residential guests.

As part of the holistic Chuan approach to health, guests will also be able to enjoy Chuan Spa cuisine developed according to balance and wellbeing. This cuisine will be available at the spa and can also be selected from the hotel’s restaurants and in-room dining menus.

For the ultimate Chuan experience, the hotel is also creating two distinctly different Chuan Residences. The residences are luxuriously appointed hotel suites featuring traditional Chinese inspired décor complete with an infinity bath.

The Langham Auckland managing director Mr John Dick said, “We aim to introduce a completely new spa experience to New Zealand. Our treatments are based on the understanding of traditional Chinese elements, with all guests offered one-on-one consultations to enable our highly skilled spa practitioners to focus re-balancing energy. Treatments are then tailored to suit the individual’s requirements.”

During the development of the spa, disruption is expected to be kept to a minimum as the location of the Chuan Spa is located on the second floor with no guest rooms above or below it. Convenient on-premise alternative fitness facilities are available for guests until Chuan Spa opens.
