Conde Nast Traveler, one of the world’s most prestigious travel magazines, has named the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake in its 2008 Hot List, the 12th annual compendium of the most compelling new hotels in the world.

The exclusive list features 136 hotels in 53 countries and includes just one hotel in Vietnam, the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake.

“Our mission from the very start was to offer something completely unique to Hanoi,” said Christian Pirodon, general manager of InterContinental Hanoi Westlake. “This accolade, from one of the most respected travel magazines in the world, is a testament to our success in that regard.”

Conde Nast lauds the new hotel for its “sublime setting,” its “stylish guest rooms,” and its five on-site restaurants and bars that “will more than satisfy anyone too rushed to explore Hanoi’s rich and diverse dining scene.”

The Hot List is an especially notable tribute because Conde Nast’s surveyors judged thousands of hotels and spas around the globe, checking in undercover at each to experience the hotel’s accommodation, services and ambiance.

The 359-unit InterContinental Hanoi Westlake opened in December 2007. Located 10 minutes from the heart of Hanoi, the waterfront hotel evokes a resort-like ambiance with its torch-lit Venetian promenades and hard-to-find airiness in Vietnam’s bustling capital.

At a 43-square-meter minimum, the InterContinental’s guest rooms rank among the most spacious in the city. The hotel’s F&B options range from Milan-Saigon, featuring both Italian and pan-Asian cuisine, to Café du Lac, a classic brasserie, and Sunset Bar, a stand-alone overwater pavilion with expansive views of the lake.
