Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Thursday, 28 February 2008

As Thailand gears up for the worlds biggest water fight, the festival of Songkran, Hilton hotels in Thailand are providing a Songkran Survival Kit to help guests try and dodge a drenching.

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Years celebration, also known as the Water Festival, and one of the more light-hearted aspects of the festivities is throwing water at each other. Thai people believe that water, as a symbol of cleansing and renewal, will wash away bad luck.

Hiltons Songkran Survival Kit provides the tools to enjoy Songkran fully and includes a water pistol and an exclusive Hilton plastic poncho to every guest who stays a minimum of 2 nights with Hilton between 11 and 16 April.

During this time guests will also be treated to a traditional water welcome on arrival at their hotel. Prices start from THB 5,000++.

Songkran is an ideal time to visit Thailand for families and they are able to join in special fun-filled water rituals throughout the country. Children particularly enjoy the festivals water fights and are actively encouraged to join in by the locals.

Hiltons three Thailand hotels are offering special packages throughout the month of April. Millennium Hilton Bangkok, Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa and Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa are all offering a Songkran Water Package which includes a free room upgrade, complimentary domestic bottled water, special discount 20% on spa treatments and one Hilton umbrella.
