AirAsia to launch Flights between Pekan Baru and Singapore

AirAsia is to launch flights from Pekan Baru, Indonesia to Singapore on 14 August 2008.

The new route, managed by AirAsia in Indonesia, is the first to be offered by a local based airline in Indonesia. With this new addition, AirAsia now serves 3 international destinations from Indonesia: Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching), Thailand (Bangkok) and Singapore plus 8 Indonesian domestic routes from Jakarta.

Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia, Dato’ Sri Tony Fernandes said, “We see the latest Pekan Baru – Singapore route as a sign of AirAsia’s confidence in capturing the ASEAN market. This new route, supported with the already established Pekan Baru – Kuala Lumpur route provides enhanced connectivity for locals to the rest of the region, as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore are established gateways to many destinations”

To celebrate the new route AirAsia is offering special fares from as low as IDR 49,000 from Pekan Baru to Singapore and Sin$ 8 from Singapore to Pekan Baru. The fares are available for booking until 27 July 2008 for travel between 14 August 2008 – 30 April 2009.

Pekan Baru, located along the Siak River on the Sumatra Island is the capital city of Riau province, Indonesia. Tourist attractions in Pekan Baru are the Great Mosque of An-Nur, Alam Mayang Fishing Garden, Sang Nila Utama Museum, Riau Cultural Park, Princess Kaca Mayang Garden, and Sari Valley Artificial Lake.
