China Airlines to Reduce Free Check-in Baggage Allowance on Trans-Pacific Flights

Search ASIA Travel Tips .com Latest Travel News Thursday, 20 March 2008

China Airlines is reducing the amount of check-in baggage allowed on its Trans-Pacific flights. Passengers traveling with tickets issued after April 15, 2008, on economy class to North America (including Guam), will be allowed to check two pieces of baggage, with a weight limit of 23kg per piece.

The charge for bags that exceed the weight limit will be NT$800 per piece for the first two pieces within 23kg to 32kg, or alternatively, Dynasty Flyer members can pay for the excess weight with 4,000 mileage points.

For business-class and first-class passengers to North America, the weight limit for the two pieces of free luggage will remain the same at 32kg per piece.

Paragon members are entitled to two additional pieces of baggage free of charge, and Emerald and Gold members are entitled to one additional piece of baggage free of charge.

The baggage allowance for Dynasty Flyer members depends on their seat class, whether or not they have mileage-exchanged upgrade seats or free tickets.
