SriLankan Airlines launches New In-Flight Duty Free Collection

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Thursday, 20 November 2008

SriLankan Airlines has launched its all new Serendib Treasures on-board duty free collection for the Winter Season, with a completely fresh range of name-brand fragrances, cosmetics, watches, jewellery, children’s delights, and liquor.

Jehan Karunaratne, Manager Inflight Service Support, said, “The Serendib Treasures collection has been completely reinvented following the change in management of Sri Lanka’s National Carrier, and features 173 products of which 80% are newly introduced.”

SriLankan recorded an all-time high in sales last year, with many prices lower than those in airport duty free shops. Significantly, Serendib Treasures now features many of Sri Lanka’s own name brand items, as well as those of the most famous global brands.

The number of items in all segments has been increased, to include the latest designer products. They include perfumes and cosmetics from brands such as Estee Lauder, Lancome, Bulgari, Hugo, Kenzo, Emporio Armani, Thierry Mugler, DKNY, Issey Miyake, YSL, Calvin Klein, Burberry, Polo, Davidoff, Giorgio Armani, Diesel, Clinique, Clarins, and Revlon.

There are also watches from Guess, Frederique Constant, Esprit, Vivaldi, Cerruti, Lacoste, Aviator, Pierre Cardin, and Timex; and pens from Mont Blanc, and Montegrappa.

The jewellery collection features the best of Sri Lanka’s own jewellers such as Ronique, Stone ‘N String, and international brands such as Carlo Gioiellere, Toscow, Pasquale Paris, and Swarovski.

The Sri Lankan souvenir range includes items from tea from Dilmah, herbal spa packs from Siddhalepa, music CDs from Clarence Wijewardana, batiks, brass ornaments, and many more.

The range of spirits now features upmarket products such as Johnnie Walker Blue Label and Gold Label, and Chivas Regal Gold Signature. Even Sri Lanka’s own arrack is available, to give the collection a local flavour.

There are also cameras, clocks, sunglasses, wallets, children’s toys, and much, much, more. The entire range can be viewed by passengers in a new eye-catching, easy to read brochure which was also designed locally.

The Serendib Treasures collection can also be viewed through the convenience of the Internet at www.srilankan.aero/dutyfree. Passengers have the option of booking products of their choice up to 48 hours prior to their flights, which helps avoid disappointment in the case of items which may be in high demand.
