General release tickets
for the 2009 NZI Sevens in Wellington sold out in record time Wednesday morning – snapped up by fans in under 10
minutes.
The
NZI Sevens is one of the country’s biggest sports and entertainment events.
It will be held at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium on Waitangi weekend, Friday 6 and
Saturday 7 February 2009.
“I’m delighted that ten years on the NZI Sevens continues to grow in
popularity,” said Tournament General Manager Steve Walters. “We’re also very excited a huge crowd wants to help us celebrate our tenth anniversary
tournament.”
Wellington is among the four founding
tournaments along with Hong Kong, South Africa and England.
“It’s been ten years of triumph on and off the field as the
capital has embraced the New Zealand leg and made it its own,”
added Mr Walters. “The fans come ready to enjoy themselves and this year the tournament generated $15.6 million of new spend into Wellington city’s economy.”
Travel and hospitality packages are still available and a wait list
has also been created.
