Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Tuesday, 16 September 2008

AirAsia is celebrating the launch of direct daily flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok on brand new Airbus 320 with five thousand free seats up for grabs. The special offer is available only online at AirAsia’s website within the booking period from 17 – 21 September 2008 for the travel period from 26 October 2008 – 28 March 2009.

Kathleen Tan, Regional Head of Commercial AirAsia, said: “The launch of our direct daily flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok will work hand-in-hand with our existing connections – especially our Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur route – and will further strengthen our position as the leading low-fare airline in Asia with a wide network of destinations in ASEAN, China and Australia. Since the launch of our Kuala Lumpur- Hong Kong route, demand has been fantastic and in less than 3 months, our strong loads have led us to introduce our second frequency in August; stimulating new demand; and allowing us to tap new markets with our amazing low fares. We believe we will see a similar trend with the introduction of the new route from Bangkok and stimulate traffic both ways between the two vibrant cities.”

The daily flights will depart Bangkok at 16:30 arriving in Hong Kong at 20:15. The return leg will leave Hong Kong at 20:50 to arrive in Bangkok at 22:50.

Tassapon Bijleveld, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Thailand added, “We are pleased to fill the existing gap of flights offering with our low fares and pave the way for future development. The new routes from Bangkok will bring AirAsia’s truly low fares to those planning a break in the beautiful city of Bangkok and exciting Hong Kong, making a vital contribution to the region’s economy and giving a real boost to the influx tourists. Passengers will now benefit from increased choice as well as our extensive route network and connectivity across Asia.”
