Villa Aminta in Italy reopens with New Suites and Spa

The Italian Great Hotels of the World member hotel, the Villa Aminta, has reopened after a major renovation.

The hotel, which is built in a villa style overlooking Lake Maggiore, originally closed in October 2007 for renovation work to begin. Finally, after six months’ work, Villa Aminta reopened on April 12th to include the new Tower wing, incorporating a number of suites, as well as a beauty centre and medical spa.

The new Tower, known as Palazzo Aminta, forms an elegant extension to the existing building and will increase the number of bedrooms to  89 in total. The new rooms will include 16 junior suites and 4 suites, spread across four floors, with a royal suite located on the top floor. The suites vary in size from 35-60sqm and all have private terraces ranging from 5-29sqm, while all rooms on a particular floor are also inter-connected to enable their combined use as a single spacious apartment if required.

The design for the suites has been personally overseen by the hotel’s owner and each floor incorporates a different Italian regional style, which is reflected in the suites’ furnishings and decoration: Venetian, Tuscan, Lombary-Piemont and Neapolitan traditions are all represented. The suites also contain the coats of arms of different aristocratic families to celebrate Italy’s artistic past, while marble bathrooms and technogym equipment are also included.

The royal suite, ‘Suite dei Dogi’ on the 5th floor, is the most opulent as it recreates the atmosphere of Venetian nobility palaces. At 123sqm with a further 101sqm of outside terrace space overlooking the lake, the suite also incorporates a private pool, fitness area and hanging gardens. Taking further advantage of the privacy and unrivalled panoramic views, however, guests can indulge in a private dinner created in-suite and on request by the hotel’s chef.

The new spa meanwhile is due to open in mid-May 2008 to provide guests with additional relaxation. The new ‘Palazzo Aminta Beauty &  Spa’ will provide a range of programs and treatments under the guidance of Professor Nicola Sorrentino and assisted by a team of doctors, physiotherapists, masseurs, beauticians, personal trainers and cosmetologists.

Signature treatments will include anti-stress therapies, back-to-shape programs for new mothers, four-handed massages with essential hot  oils, programmes for newly-wed couples, anti-ageing treatments, as well as a range of seaweed therapies, thermal mud baths, face and body treatments.

The emphasis at the new spa will be placed on personalised treatments to rebalance the body and soul, with the Zen meditation room providing and area for deep relaxation, hydrotherapy and hammam treatments.

Rates for the new Palazzo Aminta suites start from €470 (approx £376) per night on a room only basis (tax included), while rates elsewhere in the hotel start from €201 (approx £160) per night on the same basis.
