Stephen Fewell appointed General Manager of Swissôtel Kunshan

Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts has appointed Mr Stephen Fewell as the new General Manager of the 387-room Swissôtel Kunshan.

Stephen has over 20 years hospitality experience gained from senior management positions that he has held in Australia and China. 1987 marked the start of Stephen’s hospitality career when he was a member of the pre-opening team with Grand Hyatt Melbourne as Operations Manager.

In 1993, he became General Manager at the privately owned Hotel Enterprize Melbourne, a position he held for nine years. Subsequently, he moved to Rendezvous International Hotel, Adelaide and then returned to Melbourne to the Golden Tulip Hotel in the same capacity. Thereafter in 2005, he ventured to China where he was General Manager at Argyle International Hotel, Shanghai and most recently, he helmed the Sofitel Suzhou as General Manager.

Prior to the hospitality industry, the Australian-native was State Director for the National Party of Australia, Director of Corporate Funding for the Victorian Liberal Party and even served a stint with the Ministry of Tourism.

A three-time winner of the Australian Hotels Association Awards – twice for State Award for Excellence, Melbourne Hotel and once winning the General Manager’s Achievement Award, Melbourne, Stephen is also a familiar face in China’s conference circuit. In 2005, he was the keynote speaker at the Wenzhou Fortune 500 Leadership Conference.
