Nominations Open for Singapore Education Awards 2009

Travel News Asia Latest Travel News Podcasts Monday, 11 August 2008

Now into their third year, the Singapore Education Awards 2009 will be more inclusive than ever with two additional categories open for public nomination. They are the ‘Best International Marketing Effort by a Private Educational Institution’ and the ‘Best International Marketing Effort by a Public Educational Institution’. With this revision, members of the public will be in a better position to pay due recognition to deserving private and public institutions that have set the benchmark for exciting and innovative international marketing efforts. Last year’s SE Awards saw a four-fold increase in nominations to over 1,300 from its inaugural year.

“In recognition of the industry partners’ achievements, we established the SE Awards to pay special tribute to industry partners who champion the values articulated in our SE brand, and who deliver enriching and educational experiences to international students who pursue their studies in Singapore,” said Mr John Gregory Conceicao, Director, Education Services Division, Singapore Tourism Board.

“As competition for talent accelerates globally, the level of professionalism and service orientation of our industry players must improve, if Singapore is to succeed in its Global Schoolhouse ambitions. Award recipients help to define the benchmarks for the industry, and hopefully, they will set the momentum for the industry to leapfrog the competition through service excellence,” he added.

In addition, the ‘Best SE Specialist’ category will be renamed to ‘Best SE Specialist Agency’ to recognise the collective efforts of education counsellors in an agency in their bid to promote SE.

The nomination period for SE Awards 2009 will run from 11 August to 30 September 2008. Nominations can be submitted either online or via the official forms that will be made available at 90 locations island-wide including schools, attractions, all Singapore Visitors Centre, hostels and community libraries.

Based on the nominations, a panel of judges comprising representatives from the industry as well as professionals in the relevant fields will select the finalists and the eventual award winners for the SE Awards ceremony on 19 March 2009.
