“I am pleased to announce that Gordon will expand his role at the helm of Galileo and assume additional responsibilities as CEO and president of both Travelport GDS businesses as we integrate them,” said Jeff Clarke, CEO and president of Travelport. “Gordon has been a driving force in the travel services industry for the past two decades and we are all very excited about the opportunities he will generate from the pending combination of Galileo and Worldspan. I am confident that we couldn’t have a more knowledgeable, experienced or enthusiastic man to lead the new organization. I know that under Gordon’s leadership, we will create a more efficient and innovative provider of travel content and ensure that Travelport is best positioned to meet the growing demands of customers.”

Wilson, 40, has been with Galileo since 1991, serving as CEO and president, Galileo, since January 2007 and is based in London. He is responsible for all of Galileo's global activities, including delivering content, reservations technology and services to travel agents, travel suppliers, tour operators, travel management companies and corporations.

In addition to the Galileo GDS, Wilson oversees aiRes, the hosting technology solution for next-generation airlines, and Shepherd Systems, a market intelligence provider. Prior to taking on the global president and CEO role at Galileo, he ran all of Travelport’s Business Group activities in EMEA, Asia and the Pacific, comprising the travel content wholesaler GTA, hotel reservations and services provider TRUST/Wizcom as well as Galileo itself. Prior to Galileo, Wilson held a number of roles in the UK airline and chemical industries. He holds a master’s degree in Law from Cambridge University.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to build upon the complementary strengths of these two companies to lead the way in reshaping the distribution landscape,” said Gordon Wilson, CEO and president of Galileo. “Our new organization will be a truly global aggregator of travel content and provider of travel solutions. We will be focused on enabling our supplier customers to create real value in distributing their products in the way they desire and enabling our agency customers to bring informed and independent choice to consumers.”
