Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show to be staged in Wellington in September

Travel News Asia Tuesday, 21 August 2007

Wellington is gearing up to host one of the world's most spectacular and unique arts events, the Montana World of WearableArt Awards Show - also known as WOW.

Art, fashion and choreography weave together in a spectacular performance that never fails to inspire. The show has been described as "Cirque du Soleil meets John Galliano" by The Singapore Straits Times.

"WOW was originally established 20 years ago, and is now one of New Zealand's premier events," said Sarah Peacock, Australia Marketing Manager for Positively Wellington Tourism. "It defies all labels, taking viewers on a breathtaking two hour journey that combines colour, sound, movement and light."

WOW will be staged in Wellington between 20 and 30 September 2007 inclusive.

Air New Zealand Holidays has launched WOW holiday packages which include flights, three nights accommodation and a Premium ticket to one of the Awards Shows from $879 pp. Packages can be booked through Air New Zealand Holidays but tickets are limited and only available for sale until 25 August 2007.

"WOW attracts artists not only from New Zealand, but from around the world," said Sarah. "Interest from Australia has seen a significant rise with more than 20 entrants submitting garments this year, compared to 13 for 2006. It has become a must-see event for local residents and a growing number of visitors, not only from within New Zealand but from Australia and elsewhere."
