Luis Marco appointed General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona

Mr Luis Marco has been appointed as General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona scheduled to open in early 2009.

Mr Marco has over 40 years of hospitality experience, having held a number of senior management positions in famous landmark hotels such as The Hamilton Princess in Bermuda, the Sir Francis Drake in San Francisco, and the Pierre Marques in Acapulco where he acquired numerous awards such as the first ever AAA Triple Five Diamond Resort rating. More recently, he was the opening General Manager of the renowned Hotel Arts in Barcelona taking over the Ritz Carlton in Cancun as General Manager where he was the recipient of the National Quality Award on three occasions.

The Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, the group's first hotel in Spain, will be a stylish 98-room luxury hotel housed in an elegant mid-20th art deco building. Ideally located on Paseo de Gracia, at the very centre of the citys commercial and entertainment district, the property provides easy access to the citys finest shopping, dining and cultural venues.

The hotel will feature a variety of restaurants, bars and alfresco dining options, offering an eclectic choice of contemporary cuisine and cocktails in elegant and chic surroundings. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona will offer holistic rejuvenating and relaxing treatments in a tranquil, meditative setting including private treatment rooms as well as significant water and heat therapies. An expansive pool will further add to the hotels leisure facilities.
