National Car Rental and Amadeus Provide e-vouchers for Worldwide Car Rental Reservations

Travel News Asia Thursday, 11 January 2007

Amadeus has signed a global partnership with National Car Rental, which will offer travel agents the possibility of providing e-vouchers for car rental reservations booked through Amadeus and National on a worldwide basis. Previously, the Amadeus e-voucher solution was available only on a country-by-country basis with specific car rental companies. Amadeus first launched the Cars e-Voucher solution in 2004.

Amadeus’ Car e-Voucher solution aims to simplify and increase the ease of the car reservation process thanks to the following aspects:

- Saves time and money instead of printing or manually writing a paper voucher. E-Voucher offers a paperless solution which is equivalent to the airline e-ticket.

- Issues a reliable value document so that the customer no longer needs to bring a proof of reservation to the car rental counter, since the counter will have been notified with an e-voucher number sent by the car rental company.

“With the rise of independent travellers, self-drive vacations are becoming more popular, and Amadeus Car e-vouchers will be an additional service that travel agents can offer,” said David Brett, President of Amadeus Asia Pacific. “The environment is also an important issue for us: the reduction of paper usage due to the use of electronic vouchers clearly emphasises our commitment to this cause.”

Hannamari Fleming, Travel Consultant, Kaleva Travel Helsinki added, “Amadeus Cars e-Voucher is great for us and very practical. There is no longer any need for us to send vouchers via mail or courier. This is especially important for our busy travellers from corporations with same day departures.”
