Bangkok International Boat Show - Boat Thai 2007 - confident of Success

Travel News Asia Thursday, 11 January 2007

One of the first ever international boat shows to be held in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand has the boating industry in Thailand abuzz with excitement. Boat Thai is on track for a successful first show, having already garnered many firm reservations despite being more than three months away. Support from leading marine companies located in Thailand includes Lee Marine, Blue Wave Watersports, Simpson Marine, Kingfisher Marine, Go Boating and many more, making this an event not to be missed.

Suntec Integrated Media, organiser of Boat Thai 2007, scheduled for 27 to 29 April 2007 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), is targeting a strong showing of well-heeled visitors from Bangkok and around the region. As boating becomes increasingly linked to affluence and grows in popularity as a leisure pursuit, the organisers are confident that Boat Thai will satisfy exhibitor and consumer demands for an international boating platform in the heart of Thailand.

Simpson Marine is one of Asia's leading boat dealers and yacht brokers providing professional services across the Far East since 1984, specialising in a range of services including new sales, brokerage, service and maintenance, new construction and international charters. The company is an authorized distributor for Azimut Yachts, Bénéteau Yachts, Lagoon Yachts and Sea Ray Yachts.

Group General Manager of Simpson Marine Group, Bill Hutchison said, “Bangkok is an interesting venue for Boat Thai in the hub of a relatively undeveloped private boating market and because of its due location and its status as one of the world’s most exciting cities. As a distributors of Luxury yachts throughout South East Asia, we are pleased to be involved in the first Bangkok International Boat Show. This is a step in the right direction towards developing the Thai market and helping the public to realize that boating is easily accessible and affordable right on their front door step.”

Lee Marine has been one of Thailand’s leading yacht sales companies since 1997 and is now one of the largest firms in Asia providing customers qualified knowledge and experience, backed by an unbeatable after-sales service facility. Martin Holmes, General Manager of Lee Marine, said, “We are confident that Boat Thai 2007 will meet all our marketing objectives because it is helmed by the professionals behind the renowned Boat Asia. Also, its location and positioning allow us the kind of proximity to our customers and potential buyers that other exhibitions cannot offer and we welcome the opportunity to meet new and existing clients in the Thai’s capital.”

As South East Asia’s sole distributor of Hobie Cat Catamarans & Kayaks, Blue Wave Watersports has built a solid reputation for providing high quality beach sailing and fun sea kayaks to hotel resorts. Antony Chapman, Manager of Blue Wave Watersports commented, “Early booking is a must for the show which has been gaining ground in the past few months. Boat Thai presents a significant opportunity for us to reach out to a group of highly targeted visitors and to introduce and increase awareness of our product offerings. We look forward to the prospect of Boat Thai becoming a major boat show like Boat Asia in the near future.”

Roel van Leeuwen, Director of Suntec Integrated Media, added, “We have received overwhelming response from the boating industry in Thailand and more reservations than we expected at this stage. With the event being held in conjunction with a landmark dive show, ADEX, and enjoying support from the marine industry and from local government agencies like TAT and TCEB, Boat Thai is going full steam ahead to deliver a major high-quality boating event that will benefit both exhibitors and visitors in terms of business and networking opportunities as well as glamorous social gatherings and enjoyment.”
