Travel News Asia Wednesday, 7 June 2006

St. Regis Hotels and Resorts is to accentuate its legendary butler service by equipping all St. Regis butlers with wireless handheld devices. The new service which was launched at the beginning of June 2006, enables St. Regis guests to email their wishes from any location to their personal butler.

The signature St. Regis butler service, provided in every St. Regis hotel and resort around the world, is one of the most visible representations of the hotel’s famed level of service and attention to detail. St. Regis butlers greet arriving guests, assist with moving in, unpacking when required, and orientation, and assure that any customized room preparations are to the guest’s satisfaction. Dedicated personal assistants, they manage and facilitate a virtually unlimited array of guest requests, from assisting with business details and arranging reservations at restaurants, theaters and spas, to personal matters such as a running a quick errand to a favorite shop.

Now, with the introduction of the new wireless devices, a guest delayed in a business meeting can easily email a request for dinner reservations and theater tickets and receive confirmation by return e-mail.

“For more than 100 years, the St. Regis has provided exceptional hospitality service to its guests,” said Kerry Hatch, President of St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “This new service brings the traditional St. Regis guest experience into the digital age, but more importantly it enhances our ability to provide the peace of mind guests have come to expect from St. Regis Hotels and Resorts.”

The butler service is also customized to accommodate the special circumstances of St. Regis growing number of locations around the world. At St. Regis Resort, Aspen, for example, guests of the resort can count on their personal butlers to manage the care and storage of their skis. At the new St. Regis Resort, Bora Bora, butlers fly to the main airport in Tahiti to greet arriving guests, oversee the transshipment of their luggage, and shepherd them onto the shuttle flight to Bora Bora.
