Silversea Cruises is set to offer a unique selection of custom-tailored, land-based events during Silver Shadow's World Cruise 2007. Guests sailing the full 126-day cruise will be able to enjoy five complimentary shoreside events showcasing the unique cultures, art, history and culinary traditions of a diversity of regions across the globe, hosted from select cities including Santiago, Auckland, Dubai, Safaga and Rome.

"A voyage around the world is the event of a lifetime, and it's only fitting that we should celebrate this special experience by hosting gala events for our guests in several ports of call," said Joseph Proto, Silversea's director of World Cruise and business development. "Our destination and enrichment experts have collaborated to design five spectacular programs that promise not only to entertain, but also deepen our guests' understanding of the peoples and cultures they will visit during their global odyssey."

Egyptologist Zahi Hawass to Escort Tour to Luxor

Guests sailing the full 126-day voyage will be treated to a complimentary two-day, one-night excursion to Luxor escorted by acclaimed Egyptologist Zahi Hawass, who is also slated to host a series of shipboard presentations as Silver Shadow journeys from Dubai to Alexandria from April 12 to 27, 2007.

For passengers who participate in this exclusive "Treasures of Luxor" event from Safaga, Dr. Hawass, Egypt's secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, will personally escort them on a once-in-a-lifetime exploration of some of Egypt's most renowned archaeological sites. Highlights include the magnificent temple complex of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, and the tombs of Seti I, Nefertari and the Ramoza Tomb in the Valley of the Nobles. This special event also includes a gala dinner at the magnificent Habu Temple on the west bank of the Nile.

Other complimentary events for 126-day World Cruise passengers will include the following:

- From Santiago, wine and nature lovers will be able to enjoy an outing to the Matetic Vineyards, set in one of Chile's best-known and most scenic wine regions - the San Antonio Valley. A tour of the Manor House offers stunning views of the vineyards and beautiful Rosario Valley. Other highlights include wine tasting and a special lunch with entertainment.

- From Auckland, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, renowned host of numerous international regattas, will welcome World Cruise guests with an exclusive performance by the Royal New Zealand Navy Band, followed by a presentation on past America's Cup races. Guests will have a chance to explore the club at their leisure and enjoy a three-course dinner, accompanied by select New Zealand wines.

- From Dubai, a spectacular evening awaits at the famous Burj Al Arab, one of the world's most luxurious hotels. Designed to resemble a billowing sail, this award-winning architectural marvel dominates the Dubai coastline. World Cruise guests will be able to enjoy cocktails, dinner and dancing in its exquisite, two-tiered, domed Al Falak Ballroom.

- From Rome, art and history enthusiasts will especially appreciate the chance to explore the grandeur of Italy's rich past during a private visit to the Palazzo Colonna, followed by a sumptuous luncheon. This splendid Renaissance palace was built for the Colonna family, one of the most powerful houses of Italian nobility. The palace boasts an impressive collection of original masterpieces from painters such as Bronzino, Tintoretto and Reni.

Departing January 15, 2007 from Fort Lauderdale, Silver Shadow's World Cruise will cross three oceans, seven seas and six continents, visiting 61 different ports, and conclude on the originating coast, in New York City, on May 22.
