Positively Wellington suggests one-day itinerary options for Visitors

Travel News Asia 7 February 2006

Wellington in New Zealand is making life even easier for prospective visitors, by introducing an extensive range of one-day itinerary options via the internet.

Simply by visiting Wellingtonnz.com, then clicking through to “suggested itineraries”, travellers can access 10 suggested day plans, from arts and culture to wining and dining.

“Wellington offers an enormous range of activities to suit all ages, interests and budgets,” said Sarah Peacock, Australia Marketing Manager for Positively Wellington Tourism, the city’s tourism marketing organisation. “By constructing a series of suggested itineraries for visitors, we aim to minimise the time spent planning and maximise the time spent enjoying.”

The 10 itinerary options offered on the website are Wellington Highlights One, Wellington Highlights Two, Wine and Food Highlights, Cable Car Precinct, Family Fun, Arts and Culture, Backpacking, Heritage, Home Interiors and Lord of the Rings – the latter reliving aspects of the blockbuster movie trilogy, which was not only filmed in and around New Zealand’s capital city, but whose acclaimed director Peter Jackson is also a resident of Wellington.

Also available on the Wellington website are guides to accommodation, events in the city, restaurants, shopping, and walks in the city, as well as a specific Lord of the Rings locations itinerary.
