Executive movements at Six Senses

Travel News Asia 6 March 2006

Six Senses Spas has appointed a new Managing Director, a Director Development and a new General Manager for its Evason resorts in Hua Hin.

Jamie Waring has been appointed Managing Director of Six Senses Spas, from his former role of MD Operations for the Six Senses Spas division of the group.

Jamie joined Six Senses Resorts & Spas in early 2005, having been with David Lloyd Leisure - a division of Whitbread PLC, one of Europes largest leisure companies - where he held the role of Regional Manager, overseeing several Health and Racquet clubs in the South of England.

Prior to that role, his passion for health and fitness was fulfilled when he joined Holmes Place, where he was Group Manager for ten years. Jamie began his business career in Londons financial district as a money broker trading currencies on the international markets.

Jamies arrival at Six Senses Spas supported the planned growth within the groups spa, which over the past year has grown from eight to fourteen units, with over ten more spas already in development.

Jamie is based at Six Senses Bangkok Hub.

Christopher Oakes will assume the role of Director Development for Six Senses Resorts & Spas, in March 2006. His most recent role with the group was as Area General Manager for the Evason Hideaway at Hua Hin and the Evason Hua Hin Resort, in Thailand.

Chris first joined the Evason brand of the group from MyHotels, where he was Operations Director and General Manager of the first MyHotel. He previously held the position of General Manager at Bath Spa Hotel and Francis Hotel in Bath, Londons Caf Royal, and Mount Juliet House in Ireland. These followed roles as Managing Director of Adare Manor Co. Limerick, and operator of restaurants in the United Kingdom and Portugal.

After earning his Diploma in Hotel Management, Chris spent several years developing his career at hotels in South Africa and the UK.

Chris will be based at Six Senses Bangkok Hub.

Pieter van der Hoeven has assumed the role of General Manger of both Evason Hua Hn Resort and Evason Hideaway at Hua Hin, in the Thai royal city to the south of Bangkok.

Pieter joined the Evason brand in 2004 as manager of Evason Hua Hin Resort. His former role was that of resident manager at Hua Hins Anantara Resort, where he oversaw the day-to-day operation of the property. That followed an almost three and a half year tenure with The Peninsula Bangkok where he rose from front office manager to rooms division manager. His previous assignments were in his native Australia with Hyatt in Melbourne and Adelaide, and at the Peninsula Hong Kong.

During his studies for his Bachelor of Management at the University of South Australia, Peiter gained hospitality work experience at The Terrace Inter-Continental Adelaide and The Adelaide Convention Centre. He also found time to perform the honoury role of Director of Public Relations for AIESEC South Australia, a wholly student-run organization which sits on the United Nations representing the youth voice of the world.

Paul Snow has assumed the role of Resort Manager for the Evason Hua Hin Resort & Six Senses Spa, from his former role of Executive Assistant Manager Food and Beverage for both Evason Resort and Evason Hideaway at Hua Hin.

Prior to joining Evason, Paul was Food & Beverage Director/Executive Chef at Hyatt Regency Cheju, South Korea, which he assisted in reopening following a full refurbishment. This followed a similar tenure as Director Food & Beverage at Hyatt Regency Perth. Pauls extensive service with Hyatt began in the kitchen and has included postings as Executive Chef to locations that include Auckland, Dubai, Melbourne and Osaka.

In addition to Pauls extensive background in food and beverage, he has completed several associated management and finance courses, plus training, marketing and communication studies.
