Travel News Asia Wednesday, 6 December 2006

Marriott is to open its third Renaissance-branded hotel in Shanghai in mid-2007, under a management agreement reached with Summit Property Development. The 680-room Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel will occupy the top 35 floors of a distinctive 60-story tower and will have a breathtaking sky lobby.

The hotel will be part of a mixed-use complex that will include 160,000 square meters of retail space and 24,000 square meters of office space. It will benefit from direct access to a shopping mall, a movie theater and offices, and will offer guests convenient access to the nearby Zhongshan Park metro station. Various Hangqiao business parks are nearby.

Guest rooms at the Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel will be some of the largest available in Shanghai and a majority will offer separate showers and baths.

For dining and entertainment, the hotel will have a lobby lounge and three restaurants including a casual, all-day restaurant featuring a permanent grand buffet, a Chinese restaurant offering eight private dining rooms and a specialty restaurant.

Other amenities will include an executive lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a health club and spa, a gift shop, a business center, and a concierge desk.

For social events and conferences, the Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel will have 1,765 square meters of space. Included will be a 1,247 square meter ballroom that will be divisible into three sections and six individual meeting rooms in varying configurations.

Marriotts Renaissance brand portfolio in Shanghai currently consists of the 370-room Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel and the 544-room Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel. The 327-room Renaissance Shanghai Yuyan Hotel is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2007.
