Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Opens for Business

Travel News Asia Thursday, 5 October 2006

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the newest hotel and conferencing facility in the Hunter with the opening of the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley this week.

The Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is a purpose-built hotel on the site of the Hunter Valley Golf and Country Club located within the heart of one of Australia’s most popular wine regions. Built by High Trade Company Pty Ltd to Crowne Plaza brand standards, the development includes 150 hotel rooms and the largest purpose-built conferencing in the Hunter Valley – all under the one roof – and 72, two-bedroom self-contained villas all within a minute’s stroll of the main facility.

The hotel’s resort-style facilities also include a day spa, salon, huge outdoor pool and entertaining area, two restaurants, three bars, four tennis courts with floodlighting, 18-hole golf course and a 24-hour gymnasium. The hotel also offers a purpose-built, professionally supervised Kids Club that is open all year round, not just during school holiday periods.

Conferencing facilities include a pillarless ballroom with natural light, an exhibition space with vehicle access, a range of versatile meeting areas and outdoor entertaining areas that have been specifically designed for any type of event from small meetings through to residential conferences.

“This hotel is unique in the Hunter Valley. It’s the first to offer such extensive meeting facilities under the same roof as accommodation, dining and recreation facilities, in addition to self-contained villa accommodation only a few steps away. It’s also the first to offer the full range of Meeting Success services and facilities that have established Crowne Plaza as The Place To Meet,” said InterContinental Hotels Group Chief Operating Officer Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Keith Barr.

“Our strategy has always been to establish the Crowne Plaza brand in primary locations for meetings and leisure, and this hotel is an excellent example of that strategy at work. High Trade has built a sensational facility that is certainly a brand-defining Crowne Plaza hotel for this region,” Mr Barr said.

Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is now fully bookable on GDS and through the group’s reservation systems and websites.
