Travel News Asia Thursday, 30 November 2006

The luxurious new resort, The Nam Hai, on Vietnam's world famous China Beach, is celebrating its first festive season in gastronomic style serving some of the world's greatest delicacies.

Caviar, truffles, white asparagus, barbary duck and the finest Wagyu tenderloin available will feature on the Christmas and New Year's Eve menus with matching fine wines at the opulent 5-star China Beach haven.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, US$145++ per person gourmet feasts, inclusive of wine pairings, will be served at the resort’s signature dining room, The Restaurant, overlooking tranquil water gardens and the South China Sea.

The menus will include lavish starters including Barbary duck breast; Terrine of Goose liver scented with Oriental spices; Cream of broco-flower with Sevruga caviar, and Pacific tiger prawns or Roasted Lamb loin as main courses. Desserts are heavenly concoctions of White and dark Varlhona chocolates and Traditional Christmas pudding.

New Year’s Eve will also be celebrated with a similar cornucopia at the all-villa resort near the historic 'World Heritage' port of Hoi An in Central Vietnam.

With 6-courses, also inclusive of fine wine pairing, the menu is priced at US$185 ++ per person and includes Poached lobster medallion on pistachio bruschetta with Beluga caviar; Vine-ripe tomato consommé ravioli; White asparagus with sea urchin and black truffle pasta; Grilled Wagyu beef tenderloin and a dessert of passion fruit panna cotta.

The stunning new resort opens on December 1st with 60 one-bedroom villas and 40 pool villas, each featuring a luxurious infinity pool, along a kilometre of China Beach, voted by Forbes magazine as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world.

The Nam Hai features gourmet restaurants, a bar, an exotic spa, three swimming pools, gym and sauna, tennis courts, badminton and basketball courts and plans for an 18-hole golf course.

The Nam Hai is the flagship property and first Vietnam resort for GHM (General Hotel Management) headed by Adrian Zecha, renowned as a design-oriented boutique resort developer and founder of the world famous Aman Resorts.

An award winning team of designers including acclaimed architect Reda Amalou of Paris based AW2 and leading interior designer Jaya Ibrahim created this discrete, luxurious haven uniting Vietnamese culture with luxurious resort detailing and beachside living.

Introductory rates for one-bedroom villas start from US$300++ from December 1st to March 31st.

The Nam Hai is 10km from UNESCO World Heritage listed Hoi An, a colourful and well preserved traditional Asian trading port with a fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese and French cultures dating from the 15th century. It is also close to numerous historic attractions, including World Heritage-listed My Son, site of the ancient Cham civilization, and Hue, the former Imperial capital.

It is connected to the world via Danang’s international airport, only 20 minutes from Hoi An, offering direct flights from Singapore and Bangkok with future plans for direct flights from Hong Kong.

The five-star Nam Hai Resort becomes a member of the respected The Leading Small Hotels of the World in 2007.
