Travel News Asia Thursday, 27 July 2006

Dr Valerie McKenzie of “Morning Talk” fame has been appointed by Thailand's King Power International Group as their Diplomatic and Corporate Ambassador.

Khun Chulchit Bunyaketu, Group Deputy Chairman of King Power International said, “We have known Dr Valerie for many years and her relationship with both foreigners and the Thai community at all levels is impressive. During her 16 years in Thailand, she has also contributed to many different projects to support Thai people of all ages. We are pleased that she has accepted our invitation to join the group at this exciting time of our development.”

King Power International will be opening in the near future its City Complex consisting of a 10,000-square metre duty free store, a new corporate office tower, a new 4-star hotel, a 500-seat restaurant and some 600-seat theatre all in the middle of the city. The group is also preparing the retail outlets at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport scheduled to open at 3am on 28th September, 2006.

Dr Valerie McKenzie said, “I was honoured to be invited to represent the group. I have watched with interest the development of King Power International over many years and admire their commitment to success and growth. The fact that the group is also very much involved in corporate social responsibility and community projects fits well with my own philosophy of the importance of active involvement at all levels of society.”

During the 60th Anniversary celebrations for HM the King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne, King Power International introduced the “Long Live the King” yellow wristbands which to date have already raised Baht 800 million to be donated to HM the King’s charity projects.
