Acupuncturist Maureen Cromey returns to Six Senses Spa at Soneva Fushi in the Maldives

Travel News Asia 23 March 2006

Following several previous visits to the Six Senses Spa at Soneva Fushi in the Maldives, acupuncturist Maureen Cromey has returned for another month-long series that runs until 23 April 2006.

During Maureens visits, guests have been delighted to discover that they could use acupuncture to treat problems which they had not had time to address previously, or that they were unaware could be helped by this medium. Many guests benefited from a course of treatments during their stay, with one or two weeks being ample time - in the relaxed environment - to make changes and receive advise on further treatments which would be of benefit after returning home.

Some guests used acupuncture to simply boost low energy and tiredness, enhancing the positive effects of the environment.

Maureen Cromey

Maureens credentials include B.Sc.(Hons), Dip.Ac.(China), MBAcC, Dip.(SCHM), RCHM. She is a Member of The British Acupuncture Council, The Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the editorial board for the European Journal of Oriental Medicine.

After training in London during the early 1980s Maureen lived and worked in a traditional hospital in Guangzhou, China. She studied advanced acupuncture and gained extensive and intensive experience within a busy traditional Chinese medicine hospital clinic. During her stay she also studied Qi Gong and Chinese medical massage.

Maureen returned to Guangzhou in 1992 to complete her studies in Chinese herbal medicine and to gain further specialist clinical experience in herbal medicine and acupuncture.

In 1988, Maureen established her own acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine practice. She continues to be the owner and director of Clinic 251 in West London where she practices and directs a team of other practitioners.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is considered by many to be a complete treatment system for emotional and physical complaints. Treatments which counter the negative effects of stress, and within the holiday environment, enhance the process of relaxation.

Acupuncture is also used for treating respiratory, ear, nose and throat disorders, chronic tiredness, recurring colds, hormonal problems including infertility, menopausal changes and period problems. It is believed effective for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, anxiety and nervousness, as well as joint and back pain.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is also used to help improve skin tone, increase collagen production and lift and tighten facial muscle.
