KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
is to launch nonstop flights between Amsterdam and Lima in Peru with the start of its summer schedule 2007. From
Sunday, 25 March 2007, KLM will operate a new nonstop roundtrip service six times a week with Boeing 777-200ER
aircraft.
KLM currently operates daily flights to and from Lima with MD-11 aircraft with a stopover on Bonaire. The new nonstop service will depart every
day except Mondays.
The new nonstop flights KL 743/744 between Amsterdam and Lima will save more than 90 minutes in each direction compared to the current
service. The new circumstances also allow for increased weekly passenger capacity on
the route.
With the Lima flight arriving at Schiphol Airport early in the afternoon, passengers will be able to choose from a far greater range of connecting
flights to Asian and other destinations than the current schedule allows.
“With this new arrangement for flights between Amsterdam and Lima we are meeting the wishes of our customers, who want nonstop flights on
as many routes as possible,” said KLM Deputy CEO Peter Hartman. “The arrival of the Boeing 777-200ER in the KLM fleet has enabled us to do
more in this direction than we were able to in the past. This investment by KLM also fits in with the Air France – KLM network strategy to utilize
opportunities to strengthen our joint market position in South America, now that the economic conditions are favorable.”
